This video is an introduction to assisting the beginning reader, though many of the details are taught in later videos. It introduces the assessment process, placement of the student with a tutor, the development of a student-learning plan, and re-assessments, followed by an explanation of a four-step method of instruction. Materials for beginning readers are introduced: (1) the Family Readers for beginning readers and (2) other supplementary learning activities found in most centers.
